Casanova was a Librarian

Bio

When I was in my twenties, a few years after I received my Master’s degree in library science, I worked in the Reference Department of a large library where the staff dressed in costume on Halloween.  Having just been hired into the library two weeks earlier, I definitely decided to work in costume that day.  So on Halloween morning I pulled my hair up into a bun, put on a long sleeved white blouse with a high collar that buttoned up to the middle of my neck, a brown plaid skirt that fell almost to my ankles, a pair of outdated pumps with fat one inch clunky heels, and my mother's old black horn rimmed glasses.  I went to work and was puzzled that during the entire day, no one commented on my costume.  Years later I found out the reason no one commented on my “librarian” costume was that they didn’t know me well enough at that point to know I was in costume!  This led me to a closer look at the profession I had chosen so many years ago.  What I started to find shocked, amused, and entertained me to no end.

A native and lifetime resident of Northern California, I didn’t think anything could make me blush anymore.  That was before I began the research for this book and discovered the array of sexy librarian thongs and other merchandise for, or about librarians.  I hope you have a much fun reading this book as I had writing it.

This is actually my third book.  My first two books, Recruiting Library Staff and Legislative Reference Services and Sources are still in print and available for order.

Up to this point in my life, I’ve earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of California, a Master’s degree in library science from San Jose State University (CA), attended law school briefly before deciding a law career was definitely not for me, and completed most of the coursework leading to a graduate gemologist diploma from the Gemological Institute of America before deciding I loved working in libraries and would be crazy to change professions.  Over the years I’ve worked in a cooperative library agency, and in academic, public, and special libraries.  This isn’t exactly the career path I expected to take when I was growing up on a farm many many years ago!
